Supreme Court

Supreme Court Jurisprudence refers to the body of law derived from the decisions of the Supreme Court (SC) under its constitutional powers to interpret the Constitution, or reverse, alter, or set aside the actions of the two other branches. These include decisions of both the Supreme Court En Banc and the Court in Division.

Through the Court’s constitutional powers, this body of law allows the Court to interpret the Constitution and change its previous interpretations of such. This body of law has the force and effect of law, and has allowed for the voiding or reinterpretation of laws and executive acts, as well as the reordering of government policy.
