[Release notes] March 2026: Court of Tax Appeals, search filter for AI answer and library catalog, renaming your searches, and more

Court of Tax Appeals (CTA), now on Anycase.ai

As of March 2026, Court of Tax Appeals materials are now available on Anycase, expanding data coverage for tax litigation and procedural rules.

• Procter & Gamble Asia, Pte. Ltd. v. CIR (CTA Case No. 8164, 2012), which applied the 120+30-day rule under NIRC Sec. 112(C) as a jurisdictional timing requirement for VAT refund suits, making docketing and deadline-control a make-or-break workflow item in refund practice.

• Meridien Business Leader, Inc. v. CIR (CTA Case No. 9316, 2021), which reinforces that assessments must be grounded on facts (not stacked presumptions) and must state a definite tax liability and due date, sharpening how lawyers review FLDs/FANs and frame petitions around assessment validity.

• Eagle I Landholdings, Inc. v. CIR (CTA EB No. 2222, 2022), which discusses prospective application when a Supreme Court doctrine overturns prior doctrine, and recognizes that good-faith reliance on prior rulings may mitigate surcharges/interest, guiding how counsel argues reliance, penalty abatement, and risk when doctrine shifts midstream. 

• CIR v. First Philippine Industrial Corporation (CTA EB No. 2376, 2022) has also been added, which strictly polices the validity of waivers of the statute of limitations (prescription), and voids assessments where due process requirements (written factual and legal bases) are not met, making it a staple citation for motions/petitions challenging both waiver defects and notice defects. 

One-off ingestions for March 2026

As part of our ongoing effort to expand the library, we’ve added a set of key documents through one-off ingestions across different agencies. 

These additions help ensure broader coverage across practice areas, while we continue to deepen coverage within each agency as part of our regular ingestion pipeline.

Recent additions include:

1. Uniform Manual on Time Allowances and Service of Sentence (Bureau of Corrections, 2017)

2. CSC memorandum mandating all government offices to establish a medical unit

3. Revising the Conditions for the Compensability of Hernia under Annex A of the Amended Rules on Employees' Compensation (EC) 

4. Amending the Conditions for Compensability of Cardiovascular Diseases, Essential Hypertension, and Cerebrovascular Accidents Under Annex "A" of the Amended Rules on Employees' Compensation 

5. Rules and Regulations Implementing Republic Act No. 9513 aka “The Renewable Energy Act”

6. 2025 Revised Rules of the Court of Tax Appeals (2021 Edition)

7. 2025 Code of Judicial Conduct and Accountability

We listened to your feedback, and we rolled out shorter, more concise AI answers without sacrificing accuracy and correctness. With follow-up questions now available, you can explore topics further without needing long initial outputs.

Favorite, rename, and organize your chats

You can now rename chats and mark them as favorites. This helps you organize ongoing research and quickly return to important queries.

Search all of your chats

Can’t keep track of your research pipeline? You can now search across your entire chat history. This includes both your queries and document titles, making it easier to find past research when you need it.

Drag to change view

Customize your workspace view by resizing the Reader or the AI answer portion, giving you more space to read full text documents in the app, or browse the AI answer. 

Search filters for the Library Catalog

The Library Catalog now includes filters such as date range to help you narrow down results. This is useful when browsing documents or reviewing materials within a specific scope.

We still recommend using AI for targeted searches, but filters are available if you prefer to explore documents manually.

Nested tabs for Digest 

The Digest tab now includes nested sections highlighting key parts of a case. The dispositive portion is clearly surfaced so you can review outcomes faster without additional prompting.

Browse related content and references

A new Related Content tab shows documents connected to what you’re currently viewing. This helps you discover supporting materials and explore related sources more efficiently.

🛠️ Here are some bug fixes and QOL improvements we did this March…

• Correct AI Summary display for bookmarked documents
  We fixed an issue where bookmarked documents showed the Digest instead of the AI Summary when saved from the side reader. Bookmarks now display the intended AI Summary.

• Whitespace issue in computation tables
  We fixed excessive whitespace appearing on the side of AI-generated computation table containers.

• Accurate date display
  We fixed an issue where incorrect dates were being shown. Dates now reflect the correct values.

• GR document title mismatch
  We resolved an issue where GR document titles were incorrectly labeled under admin matters (AMs).

• Bookmark button cross-browser fix
  We fixed an issue where the bookmark button was not working consistently across browsers (Safari, Chrome).

• Search and chat behavior improvements
  We improved chat search, recent chat behavior, and overall search catalog performance for more reliable results.

• Digest and navigation improvements
  We improved Digest accordion headers and nested tab behavior for smoother navigation.
