Presidential Decree

Presidential Decrees (P.D.s) are laws issued by the President of the Philippines that have the force and effect of a statute. This power was exercised primarily during the Marcos administration under Martial Law, as authorized by the 1973 Constitution.

These decrees addressed a wide range of national concerns and continue to serve as important legal references in Philippine law today. Many are still in effect, functioning alongside other legislative acts like Republic Acts.
